This drawing is 1 of 2 collaboration with wildlife photographer Jill Martin. Jill is has a sensitive eye and I find most interesting about her work are the small birds she captures, unclose with such vivid detail. In studying the subjects she has photographed, the Eastern Towhee stands out with its black hood, rufous sides and white underparts (male) and angular shapes of the beak. I fascinating subject to get close and intimate with. Most have red eyes and have full songs in 3 parts often rendered as “drink your tea,” or shortened to “drink tea.”
